Privacy Policy

Couple Note is a private notebook for two people. We try to collect as little as possible, and we never sell your information or use it for advertising. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.

Who we are

Couple Note (“we,” “us”) provides the Couple Note app and this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email us at support@nordkestrel.ca.

What we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, our authentication provider (Clerk) shares your name, email address, and profile photo so we can create and identify your account.
• Content you create. The things you add in the app — text notes, voice recordings, photos, countdowns, shared costs and receipt images, and canvas drawings — along with details you choose to attach, such as locations, dates, and tags.
• Your partner connection. Which account you are paired with, so the two of you can share a space.
• Basic technical data. Standard server information such as IP address and timestamps, used to operate and secure the service.

How we use it

• To run the app and keep your space in sync between the two of you.
• To send occasional service emails, such as a pairing invitation.
• To keep the service secure and to diagnose problems.

We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Where your information is stored

Your account and content are stored on cloud infrastructure operated by Cloudflare (databases and object storage). Your content is private to you and your partner — it is never shown on a public feed or to other users.

To be clear about how this works: your content is stored on our servers in a form our systems can process in order to run the app, and it is not end-to-end encrypted. Access is limited to what is needed to operate, support, and secure the service.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers, each receiving only what they need:

• Clerk — account sign-in and authentication.
• Google and Apple — “Sign in with” providers.
• Cloudflare — hosting, database, and file storage.
• Resend — delivering service emails such as invitations.

Sharing between you and your partner

Anything you mark as shared becomes visible to the partner you are paired with. That is the only place your content is shared. There is no public profile and no feed.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your content until you delete it. Deleted items may remain briefly in sync records or backups before they are fully removed. If a pair separates, content is archived for the person who created it. You can delete your content or close your account at any time from within the app, or by contacting us at support@nordkestrel.ca.

Your choices

You can ask to access, correct, export, or delete your information by emailing support@nordkestrel.ca. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data, and we will honor them.

Children

Couple Note is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, note them in the app.
